 Meditation

Meditation is an active training of the mind (a practice) to increase the awareness of who you are and how to be in the world. This is achieved through becoming still,  listening inwardly and living a life where you are guided by your truth.  Although there are many different meditation techniques used throughout the world, most will fall under one of these categories: Object Focused Meditation or Non-directed Meditation

Object Focused Meditation:
Breath
Mantra

Japa Mala

Trataka

Non-directed
Mindfullness

Sense Awareness

Below we will list a few techniques from each category and then you can decide which you would like to try during your time at the retreat on your own, while embarking on a Meditation Program or during our scheduled morning meditation practice.  Please note that the morning meditation is usually part guided, part silent. so that both beginner and experienced meditators can benefit. If you are new to meditation, we encourage you to try whichever methods appeal to you most.  Then narrow down your choice to one technique and commit to this practice regularly until you feel change happening within and without.

A lot of people have the idea that meditating involves sitting down, cross legged on the floor clearing the mind of all thoughts.  .

Mindfulness meditation emphasizes acceptance of feelings and thoughts without judgment and relaxation of body and mind.
